SNOWBOARDING TIME

SNOWBOARDING KRVAVECI was dying to show you the pictures from the day we spent snowboarding in this magical place called Krvavec, a snow park near Ljubljana.

On Thursday morning when we left the house the weather was quite moody and it even started to rain half-way there so with my husband we were suspicious of what’s been going on up in the mountains. But as soon as we reached the first level Gospinca which is at 1.477m the sun came out which instantly put a smile on our faces and motivated us to go even further and we landed on Krvavec at 1.853m and then, bang, I was lost for words. The view was spectacular. My first reaction was to take out the camera and start snapping all around me. I was a bit hysterical as I couldn’t concentrate and calmly do my thing. It happens when there’s so much beauty around me. The worst thing is that no matter how good the camera is, it is impossible to capture exactly what my eyes were seeing that day. The feeling is also indescribable. I felt so small yet incredibly free. For someone who is afraid of heights, I must admit that I felt pretty comfortable up there.

The snow park also has a cute little restaurant with a beautiful terrace where you can have a snack or tan a bit while sipping on mulled wine. It was amazing and this, despite my frustration as I couldn’t turn on my board and fell a few times on my right shoulder, which felt at the end of the day like I’ve been boxing. But as they say, no pain, no gain and we all need challenges to push us towards our best performance so I kept going and spent the 2 last hours of the day really enjoying snowboarding down the slopes turning on my board and feeling a bit proud because it was my third time ever that I stepped on a board with a 2-year pause in between my second and third time. I would like to thank the best husband on earth who has a great amount of patience and support and without whom all this would not have been possible.

Hope you’ll enjoy the pics guys!

PARIS, PARIS – PART 2

My motivation to write in French came back so today’s article will be both in French and English. During our last tour, we spent several hours on Opera, Champs Elysées, Parc des Tuileries and Le Louvre so this time the sightseeing visit started in the 4th arrondissement specifically at Châtelet and of course ended in the 16th arrondissement at Trocadéro. In the first picture you can see the impressive church Saint-Eustache I urge you to visit if you are near Châtelet.

The outstanding Tour Saint-Jacques in the 4th arrondissement.

As far back as I can remember the holidays lights were only reserved for the Eiffel Tower and when we stepped out of the Publicis Drugstore carrying our boxes of delicious Pierre Hermé macarons, I was pleasantly surprised to see the Arc de Triomphe stealing the show from the Tour Eiffel this year.

Les Champs-Elysées are obviously the most beautiful avenue in the world but damn, those cars ruin it all! It was almost impossible to take pictures without being honked at by the cranky Parisian drivers. After constantly having to tell them to piss off, I rapidly came back into my angry Parisian mood, lost the desire to take pictures and quickly walked towards the Avenue Montaigne for a peaceful stroll.

If you are visiting Paris for the first time, start at Trocadéro. At the exit from the métro the Eiffel Tower cannot be seen since it is hidden by the huge Palais de Chaillot but once you pass by the Palais, the tower suddenly appears in front of you and the feeling you get is unique.

Enjoy!

PARIS, PARIS

PARIS OPÉRA GARNIER ACADÉMIE NATIONALE DE MUSIQUEThe last post of the year is dedicated to the place where it all started, Paris of course.
With my partner in crime we went to see the mesmerizing and upside down Christmas Tree at Galeries Lafayette situated near The Palais Garnier known as Opéra that you can see in the first four pictures. I used to work in this neighborhood and I fell in love with it instantly. I may not be a huge fan of the Parisian crowd and lifestyle but I am obsessed with its architecture from the 19th century. I recommend the 9th arrondissement if you too are hooked on typical Parisian buildings and great places to do some shopping.
As I mentioned before, we went there to see the unusual Christmas tree above all as we have already visited this neighborhood many times in the past two years.
From the moment we stepped into the galeries,  I couldn’t stop taking pictures of the magical upside down tree hanging from the ceiling in the middle of the ‘shopping center’, if I could coin it in those terms! But we had to get out of there ’cause the place was so crowded and it was getting hot. So to cool ourselves a bit, we strolled through the streets of Paris and ended on Place André-Malraux nearby Le Musée du Louvre where we enjoyed a wonderful soap bubbles show. You can see in one of the photos how I am in awe of the gigantic bubbles flying over Paris. The next stop was evidently La Pyramide du Louvre and Parc des Tuileries from where you can see La Tour Eiffel pointing the tip of its nose. After taking some pictures of the impressive Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, we moved towards the exit of the Parc des Tuileries and ended up on la Place de la Concorde with its enchanting Ferris Wheel and L’obélisque de Louxor. On the second to last picture you can see les Champs-Élysées, l’Arc de Triomphe Étoile and la Défense (the business district).
The stroll ended there, I mean we stopped taking pictures once we hit the Christmas market at the end of the Champs-Élysées because of cold, the crowd and mainly because it was daylight and lights were still off. So we returned there after 5pm and took some great pics that will soon be published, so stay tuned guys!

By the way, Happy New Year to all of you!

I was wearing : Zara turtleneck, Gap jeans, H&M scarf and a handmade coat from Italy in which I didn’t get unnoticed since apart from some Asian tourists and children, people were mostly wearing dark colors, as usual.

DISNEYLAND PARIS

DISNEYLAND PARIS ENTRANCE MICKEY MOUSEI got the best Christmas present ever and I couldn’t have wanted more. My sister, her husband, my niece, my husband and I went to Disneyland Paris and enjoyed it like little kids. It was my sixth time at Disneyland Paris and second time I had the chance to visit it during the Holidays. Needless to say it was magically decorated and completely enchanting. I am still a child at heart, especially when it comes to Mickey Mouse’s world so I couldn’t be happier. As we expected, it was crowded as it always is at this time of the year, so we only did four rides since the waiting time was from 45min to 100min and after spending 50minutes in a queue and 30seconds in the ride, we didn’t feel like waiting in the cold another 60minutes and then 50min and then 60 again, so we walked around and appreciated the magic world we were lucky enough to be part of on the day after Christmas. My favorite ride at Disney is definitely Indiana Jones (even though I was shitting on myself in the queue, as usual!) but once it’s finished I always want more. The last ride we did was The Twilight Zone, The Tower of Terror and for those who never heard of it, it is an accelerated 56 meters drop!!! It is sick! I have done it once in the past and it seems that I forgot how scary it was. But you shouldn’t miss it because once the elevator is at the top of the tower, the doors open so you can appreciate the beautiful view of the entire resort before the thrilling and terrifying drop. It is breathtaking figuratively and literally! ^^ I love Disneyland from the bottom of my heart and can’t wait to go back. I hope you will enjoy the pictures I took. You see me only in two pics since I have the bad habit to monopolize the camera wherever we go.

#TBT HOLIDAYS 2013

TBT SNOW LJUBLJANA SLOVENIAThrowback to last year’s holidays when Ljubljana was all white and trees were covered in snow and frost as you can see on these breath-taking photos I have taken from my windows.
Today, it is Christmas and the sun is shining bright outside, the day is beautiful but I am missing the snow so much. I am happy it isn’t raining though.
Since this morning we are listening to Christmas songs, eating delicious meals and cakes my sister, mother and I have made, and now we are getting ready to go for a walk in a beautiful park in the neighborhood. Later on, we are planning on watching my favorite Christmas movie ‘How the Grinch stole Christmas’ with Jim Carey and eat more cake. ^^
Hope you are all having a great and peaceful day folks.

Lots of love,

Xo, G.

THROWBACK TO MY WEDDING DAY

TB WEDDING 1It’s been four days since I arrived in Paris and I started to terribly missing my husband today, so I went through our wedding pictures and I selected a few of them to share with you.
I love my wed pictures more than any other photos I have. While our wedding video isn’t that good, even though we hired a professional who worked on music videos, documentaries and had at least 20 years of experience in that field, the photographers were simply amazing and totally worked in harmony with me and respected my vision on how I wanted the pictures to be which is spontaneous and casual.

The first picture is of our fists showing our rings off and seconds after making our first fist bump as a married couple. And actually, that has become something we regularly do when we agree on something. ^^

TB WEDDING 2

TB WEDDING 3As the color of the wedding was coral, I got this beautifully and simply made bouquet of fresh roses and nice white pearls glued all over it.

TB WEDDING 4And here comes Cinderella… Yeah, well, the big difference between Cinderella and me, is that I didn’t loose my shoes, I couldn’t even take them off! ^^ See, they are super comfortable for high heels but the thing that went wrong is that my feet were swollen at some point and with so many straps, it is mission impossible to get your feet out! But at the same time I got many compliments on them so I guess that is 50/50.
I bought them at Mass.

TB WEDDING 5But the worst thing that could ever happen to a bride is to get her makeup done by some incompetent b**** who didn’t even went to an artistic makeup school and was working in this reputable beauty salon in Ljubljana where my sister and I went to pamper ourselves and relax a bit. But things went really wrooong! We literally looked like transvestites. When I first laid eyes on my sister I started laughing so hard that I cried and she laughed her ass off too because she knew something wrong was going on. The lines of her face disappeared under tons of cheap foundation which didn’t even respected her skin tone, and when I saw what the b**** has done with her eyes, I was pretty sceptical on letting her do my makeup too but I didn’t have much choice.
Once she finished to put on my foundation, I asked to see myself in a mirror and the result was hilarious. I didn’t even let her do my eyes. My sister and couldn’t even look at each other without crying with laughter. The first thing we did at home was to wash our faces off and apply our makeup ourselves. It is too bad we didn’t take a selfie this day but my sister’s fake face is stuck with me for eternity and it’s the same for her. Ahhh.

Oh yeah, my earrings are from Oliver Weber.

0349I was fooling around at the end of the photo shoot ’cause I was exhausted and needed to cheer myself up to keep going, ’cause it was a crazy day full of good and bad emotions.

My dress is made of silk chiffon as I wanted it to have this airy and ethereal feel and the band lace is embellished with Swarovski crystals to match my earrings. Even though it was custom made, I have lost 4kgs in 2 days and the dress was falling down all day long. I was so sad that it didn’t fit as the day I brought it home. Sniff sniff …
